The Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation draws your attention to the fact that under Article 54 of the Federal Law «On the Election of Deputies of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation» when making public (publishing) the results of opinion polls relating to the elections the mass media which come within Clauses 1 and 2 Article 55 of the Federal Law «On the Election of Deputies of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation» must indicate the organization which carried out the poll, the time when it was conducted, the number of respondents (sample), the method of collecting information, accurate formulation of the question, statistical assessment of the possible error.
You are also reminded that after the last day of registration of federal lists of candidates (from November 4, 1999) the organizations which make public (publish) the results of such polls and forecasts of election results must furnish copies of these publications to the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation for the formation of a databank whose data must be made available for examination or copying to the persons indicated in the Federal Law.
